Chiller Plant Expansion
Green Contracting Company worked on a multi-level chiller plant expansion for a Baltimore City Hospital. The levels included the Cooling Tower Level, the Chiller Level, and the Pump Level.
The project involved the installation of three (3) – 3,500 ton chillers, field erected cooling tower (totaling 14,000 tons of capacity), one (1) 900 hp secondary chilled water pump with a VFD, six (6) 150 hp primary chilled water pumps and three (3) – 300 hp condenser water pumps.
Equipment and pipe sizes ranged from 14” to 42” and installation was completed while the facility was in operation. This project increased the total plant capacity from 7,000 tons with two (2) 3,500 ton chillers to 17,500 tons with all of the above.
