Burner Replacement & Boiler Refurbishment
The work Green Contracting performed at the Central Utility Plant at a Northern Maryland Medical Center included refurbishment of four (4) boilers which were originally installed in the early 1970s by Green Contracting.
This time around, Green’s boiler refurbishment included the removal of the existing burners and trains to install the new low nox burners. Green also performed boiler modifications, removed and replaced the economizers, removed and replaced the DA and surge tanks, and furnished and installed the boiler controls which included BMS, Boiler control panels, and the Master Control panel.
With this project, two (2) of the existing four (4) boilers had to remain online at any given time. As one (1) boiler was completed and tested, another boiler was taken offline for modification. The roof of the plant had to be removed for the removal and then installation of the new economizers. This project was completed in September of 2010.
