OUR HISTORY
Green Contracting Company, Inc. was founded in 1959 as a general mechanical
contractor specializing in Power Plant Construction. In its 47-year history,
the Company has been reorganized twice with the last reorganization occurring
in 1999 wherein the Company became an ESOP - owned 100% by the Employee
Stock Ownership Plan. There were no changes in management or interruption
to operations and the success of this plan is clearly demonstrated by
the Company's financial status with a Dun's rating of 3A1.
OUR AREAS OF OPERATION
Power plant construction continues to dominate operations, but over the
years, the Company has broadened its base into all phases of heavy and
miscellaneous mechanical construction for manufacturing and other industrial
applications. Our services include
erection of structural and miscellaneous steel as well as rigging, industrial
construction, boiler repair, retubing and erection, chiller plant installation,
process piping, and air pollution control equipment installation. In addition,
our tenure as a general contractor has evolved to encompass construction
management and design-build construction for multi-million dollar projects.
The Company now performs in excess of $35 Million in annual revenues in
Maryland (License # 03004493) and neighboring states. Additionally, the
Company does travel to other states and presently holds licenses in the
States of Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi,
New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C. and
West Virginia.
OUR PEOPLE
We operate under the open shop concept and employ more than 90 people
who are our strength. Most employees have service records in excess of
ten years, which is how management's philosophies and concepts are carried
through the ranks and it is a significant factor in the corporation's
overall success.
OUR STANDARDS
Green Contracting is also one of a select few contractors to have maintained
the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code symbols for more
than 30 years. Symbols include the "S" and "U" and the National Board
of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors "R" symbol for repairs. All welding
procedures and welders are certified in accordance with this program which
includes training for visual inspection under the guidance of a certified
welding inspector on staff.
OUR LEGACY
At Green Contracting every project, regardless of size, is important.
The reputation of the Company has significant impact on its future and
the future of its employees. The Company is comprised of many second and
third generation employees who are proud of the Company's heritage. All
employees strive to continue its legacy as well as protect their interest
since each and every employee is a stockholder. It is this tie between
company and employee that offers customers the assurance that their project
is as important to those performing the work as it is to the customer!
